Poultry Judging

The National Collegiate Poultry Judging Contest: Building Futures in Poultry Science

Welcome to National Collegiate Poultry Judging at the University of Arkansas—home to one of the nation’s leading Poultry Science programs. Located in Northwest Arkansas, a global hub for poultry production and food innovation, the University of Arkansas is uniquely positioned to connect students with real‑world education and industry opportunity.

Poultry judging at the national level is more than competition. It is a direct pathway into career readiness within poultry and food systems. Through judging, students develop skills that define successful professionals: analytical thinking, product evaluation, problem solving, and clear communication. These competencies translate seamlessly into college classrooms, undergraduate research, internships, and leadership roles across the poultry industry.

The University of Arkansas Poultry Science Department is known nationally for its strong industry partnerships, applied research, and hands‑on student training. Faculty work closely with students to provide meaningful learning experiences that reflect current industry standards in production, processing, food safety, and quality assurance. Graduates of the program pursue careers throughout the United States and beyond, serving the global food system.

Coaches and advisors play a critical role in helping students recognize how judging experience aligns with academic majors, scholarship opportunities, and long‑term career pathways. Many leaders in today’s poultry industry began their professional journeys through poultry judging.

We invite students, coaches, and advisors from across the country to learn more about Poultry Science at the University of Arkansas and to see how participation in National Collegiate Poultry Judging can open doors to higher education, industry leadership, and impactful careers in agriculture.

The National Collegiate Poultry Judging Contest brings teams from across the United States to The Center of Excellence for Poultry Science each November. Teams and individuals compete in the categories of Egg Production & Quality and Breeder Selection & Carcass Quality.
